Donations can be made online via the Pitt United Way giving portal. You can also find this portal by visiting my.pitt.edu and searching "Donate to the United Way." Find instructions for how to donate online.
Payroll Deduction
Payroll deduction through the University of Pittsburgh requires a minimum pledge of $2 per month. Payroll deductions will begin in your January pay.
Payroll deductions will automatically rollover to the next year. You do not need to take any action unless you want to make a change to last year's pledge. The deadline to make changes is December 9, 2026.
Experiences Raffle
Employees who pledge a new payroll deduction or confirm their payroll deduction between October 1 and November 18 will receive a free ticket for the Experiences Raffle.
Some of the raffle items this year include:
- Carnegie Museums family memberships
- Kennywood season pass for 2
- Narcissi Wine Tour and Tasting for 4
- A Night at the August Wilson Center
- Pamela’s Diner gift cards
- Phipps Conservatory family memberships
- Pittsburgh Cultural Trust gift card
- Sips of Pittsburgh brewery tour for 2
To enter, simply confirm your payroll deduction or set up a new one by Nov. 18! Then, be on the lookout after Nov. 18 for an email with information on how to redeem your entry. The drawing will be held on Nov. 23, 2026.
Vacation Time Donation
Select staff are eligible to donate up to 40 vacation hours. Donation amounts are calculated by Payroll based on staff's hourly wage. Vacation hours donated will be deducted from your January vacation bank. The deadline to donate vacation time is December 9, 2026. Review an example of how vacation time donations are calculated. Please consult with your accountant or tax preparer regarding any tax questions.
One-Time or Other Online Donation Options
Via the online giving portal, you can also select one-time donation options to pay via a credit card, to be billed ("Bill Me"), or by giving via Stocks/Securities.
Send in a pledge form
Faculty and staff also have the option to fill out a pledge form instead of using the online portal. Access the pledge form.

Note: to make a donation via credit card or stocks/securities (if not using the online giving portal), individuals must call 412-456-6754.
Making an Agency Designation
There are thousands of nonprofit organizations working with United Way, allowing donors to designate support to specific agencies and programs through a contributor choice code. Visit the Contributor Choice page on the United Way website to find the full list of available agencies and their code numbers to be used when filling out the pledge form.
Note: there is a $24 minimum donation per agency. Donations of less than $24 are automatically allocated to the United Way.
